From 2nd to 6th July, 2018 I had a privilege of visiting the city of Shanghai and Hangzhou. While at Shanghai i visited the founding site of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and learn massive history of Chinese administrations and political endeavors. The Yale Young African Scholars Program (YYAS) is an intensive academic and enrichment program designed for African secondary school students planning to pursue tertiary education and who wish to make meaningful impact as young leaders on the continent. Participants will enhance their academic skills, receive university admission and financial aid application guidance, and join a network of young leaders from across Africa. Following the eight-day program, students will be paired with mentors who will help advise them throughout the university application process.  There are no tuition, meal, or lodging costs for students to participate in YYAS. YYAS is an official program of Yale University. The program is designed to identify, train, network and empower a diverse group of emerging, character-driven leaders from the United States and around the world. The program offers a unique blend of professional development, exposure to top-level policymakers and formal training in leadership. At four junctures throughout the year, the program provides hands-on training focused on values, ethics and leadership, media and communications skills; and best practice examples of American business, political and civic life. A key aspect of the program is each NGL’s preparation of an individual Leadership Action Plan (LAP).
